Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of hoist hooks without safety latches: a)Building 1: The hook of the Lodestar 1 ton electric hoist was not equipped with a safety latch, on or about 01/13/2005. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to equip the hoist hook with a safety latch as described in ANSI B30.16-1993 Section 16-1.2.9 (Hooks).
