Health Act of North Carolina:  The
employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment
and a place of employment free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees
were exposed to:
a)facility -  building supports and below the hook lifting device for
lifting boat molds and parts were not
designed and rated to withstand the loads and forces imposed by the parts
being lifted, nor were the
devices marked to indicate such load ratings. (Reference ANSI 30.16
-paragraph 1.2.1.,design,
paragraph 16.1.3, installation, paragraph 16-2.1.1, inspection., also ANSI
B30.20-1999 sections 20-1.2.1, markings, section 20-1.2.2 construction,
and section 20-1.3.1, inspections.)
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to
procure a structural engineering certification for the load rating of the
structure support beam, and
lifting device, and provide devices with markings indicating their load
rating.
Bayshore Boats was previously cited for a violation of this occupational
safety and health standard or its
equivalent standard (NCGS 95-129(1) of the North Carolina General
Statutes, which was contained in OSH
inspection 305731804, citation 01, item 001, issued on 01/18/03.
