Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a. Receive injuries due to malfunctioning of the ice maker water curtain.
At the moment
of the inspection the water curtain was not making contact, causing
injuries to the
employees, when the chunk of ice fell down over the arms and hands. The
machine was
located in the waitress area. Among other methods one feasible and
acceptable
abatement
method to correct this hazard is the acquisition of a new model ice maker
machine.
a. Recibir lesiones debido a mal funcionamiento de la cortina de agua de
la maquina de
hacer hielo. Al momento de la inspeccion la cortina de agua no hacia
contacto,
ocasionando lesiones a los empleados cuando caian pedazos de hielo sobre
los brazos y
manos. La maquina estaba localizada en el area de meseros. Entre otros
metodos, un
metodo aceptable y posible para corregir este riesgo es la adquisicion de
un modelo
nuevo de maquina de hacer hielo.
