Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: a. Received serious injuries due to falls of steel plate leaned back to the loading door of the dispatch metal tube (metal tube) area. The connecting means located at the floor level to which the steel plate was attached was broken at the sides, causing that the plate was not maintained in an upright inclined position without falling backward when the loading door was opened. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard is to weld a new coupling tube to the steel plate system. a. Recibir lesiones serias debido a caidas de una plancha de acero que estaba recostada hacia la puerta de carga en el area de despacho. El medio de conexion (tubo de metal) localizado al nivel del piso al cual la placa de metal estaba unida estaba roto en los lados causando que la placa no se mantuviera en posicion vertical inclinada sin caer hacia atras cuando la puerta del area de carga se abria. Entre otros metodos, uno aceptable y adecuado para corregir esta violacion es soldar un tubo acoplador al sistema de placa de acero.
