Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a.  "At Isla Caja de Muerto".  Agravation of injuries/illness due to the
lack of
transportation facilities (stand by motor boat) to move employees to a
Ponce dock in case
of accident or sickness.  Employees are carried to the island every shift
and the
transportation facility returns to Tallaboa Dock.  Among other methods,
one
feasible and
acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to maintain a motor
boat at Caja
de Muerto dock to provide inmediate and continuos (day and night)
transportation facility
for employees in case of emergencies.
a. En la Isla Caja de Muerto. Agravamiento de lesiones y enfermedades
debido a la falta
de facilidades transportacion (lancha de reserva) para mover los empleados
aun puerto
del area de Ponce en caso de accidente o enfermedad.  Los empleados son
llevados a la
isla en cada turno y el medio de transportacion regresa al muelle de
Tallaboa.  Entre
otros metodos, uno factible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es
mantener una lancha
en el muelle de Isla Caja de Muerto para tener un medio de transportacion
inmediata y
continua para los empleados en caso de emergencia.

windows in the
main  building first and second floor. The employees were exposed to falls
due to wet
floors and get sick due to changes in temperatures during the nigth time.
Among others
methods,one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this
hazard is to fix all
the windows that were broken.
a.  En la Isla de Caja De Muerto.  Recibir lesiones  y enfermedades debido
a
ventanas
rotas en el edificio principal en el primer y segundo piso. Los empleados
estaban
expuestos a caidas debido a pisos mojados y a enfermedades debido a los
cambios de
temperaturas durante la noche. Entre otros metodos, un metodo aceptable y
posible para
corregir este riesgo es arreglar o poner ventanas nuevas.

(12 feet high). At the first section of the dock raling area missing in
some areas (east to
west a section 87 inches is missing and a section from south to north of
28 long is
missing. Among others methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement
method to correct
this hazard is to install news sections of railing tht are missing.
a. En el muelle de la Isla Caja De Muerto. Recibir lesiones serias debido
a caidas del
muelle al mar (12'de altura). En la primera seccion del muelle esta
faltaban dos secciones
de barandas (una de este a oeste de 87 pulgadas de largo y otra de sur a
norte de 28 pies
de largo). Entre otros metodos, un metodo aceptable y posible para
corregir este riesgo
es instalar nuevas secciones de barandas que falten.

missing a concrete
flagstone of 20 feetx 6.5 feet. Among others methods, one feasible and
acceptable
abatement method to correct this hazard is to install a new cement
flagstone
to cover the
opening.

caidas del muelle al mar (16 pies de altura). Esta faltando una losa de 29
pies x 6.5 pies
en el piso. Entre otros metodos , un metodo aceptable y factible  para
corregir este
riesgo es instalar  una nueva losa de cemento para cubrir o tapar la
abertura.

to buy new batteries and locate them out of the food storage.
a.  En el edificio principal, almacen de alimento en la isla Caja De
Muerto.  Recibir
serias debido a seis baterias en serie para almacenar electricidad que
estaban en malas
condiciones en el almacen de comidas. Estas baterias estan en el piso
hacia la pared este.
Entre otros metodos ,un metodo aceptable y posible para corregir este
riesgo es comprar
nuevas baterias y localizarlas en otro lugar fuera del almacen de los
alimentos.
