Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that an employee was exposed to fall hazards while working on a pallet lifted by a rough terrain forktruck. a) 522 Randall Road Jobsite - Employee working from an elevated platform was exposed to fall hazards. Fall protection was not utilized. b) 522 Randall Road Jobsite - Employee working from an elevated platform that was not secured to the lifting carriage or forks. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME B56.6a-1994 Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks. Ebben Masonry was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard contained in OSHA inspection #305019663 issued on February 14, 2002 with respect to a jobsite in Schaumburg, IL.
