Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: On or about 8/27/03, the employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: a- Violation observed on or about 8/27/03. ABATEMENT NOTE: AMONG OTHER MEANS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD WOULD BE FOR THE COMPANY UTILIZE ONLY PLATFORMS DESIGNED FOR USE IN ELEVATING PERSONNEL WITH FORKLIFTS. THESE PLATFORMS MUST MEET THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN ANSI/ASME B56.1-1993. TRAIN ALL EMPLOYEES ABOUT THE HAZARD OF FALLS ASSOCIATED WITH IMPROPER ELEVATING METHODS, AND THE PROPER APPLICATION AND USE OF SAFETY PLATFORMS. THIS VIOLATION REQUIRES BOTH CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION AS APPROPRIATE PROOF OF ABATEMENT.E
