Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to serious thermal burns from filling a water tank with a pressurized hot water hose that backed out and sprayed hot water. Employees were exposed to serious thermal burns while filling a tank with a pressurized hot water hsoe that was not secured to the tank or the truck: Hot water refilling station: Employees were exposed to serious thermal burns from filling a water tank with a pressurized hot water hose that backed out and sprayed hot water. The hot water hose used to refill the tanks on the cement trucks was not secured thereby allowing the pressurized hose to back out and spray hot water at approximately 165 degrees fahrenheit resulting in second and third dregree burns to his back, neck and hands. Feasible method of abatement include but are not limited to: 1.Ensure that faucet is labeled with appropriate hazard warnings regarding the hot water and the temperature of it. 2.Chain and a snap link to the hose thereby securing the hose to the tank of the truck thereby preventing the pressurized hot water hose from backing out of the filling port of the tank.
