recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to being caught by rotating machine parts:
a)Floor 3:  Employees who were performing pipe threading were exposed to
contacting and being caught by the rotating parts of a cord and plug
connected
Ridgid Model 300 Pipe and Bolt Threading Machine.  Employees caught by
these
pards may be unable to reach the control switch in order to stop the
machine
before serious injury or death occurs. On or about 08/06/03
ABATEMENT NOTE:
Among others, a feasible method to eliminate or to materially reduce this
hazard is to
comply with American National Standards Institute B208.1 - 1982, section
4.4 and install
a momentary contact device to control the power input to the machine.
NOTE:  THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT CERTIFICATION OF
ABATEMENT FOR THIS ITEM.  FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN AN
ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1,000 AS PER 29 CFR 1903.19.
