Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to stuck by hazards: a) 2710 N. Clark, Chicago, Illinois - Employees were permitted to work on the west side of the building at the north end where the boom of a Traverse Lift, Model TL 10049, was in an elevated and extended position. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method is to follow Traverse Lift safety instructions and keep people and obstacles clear from work areas when operating Traverse Lifts. No abatement documentation required for this item.
