Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards from an overhead hoist that had never been tested: (a)At the C&N Manufacturers, Inc. d/b/a C&N Footlockers facility located at 501 S. Clark Street, Boyd, WI 54726: Employees were exposed to a struck by hazard because the hoist located directly above the Roller Coater Glue Spreader machine was never inspected. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to inspect the hoist frequently and periodically as required by ANSI B30.16 - 1993, Overhead Hoists (Underhung), page 20, section 16-2.1.5. Abatement certification and documentation is not required for this item.
