Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards while using a ladder that did not extend three feet past the roofs edge. (a)CCS Services, LLC., at the Gold's gym job site located at 3230 E. Hamilton Ave. Eau Claire, WI: Employees were accessing a roof that was approximately 20 feet high with a fiber glass ladder the was unsecured and did not extend three feet past the roofs edge. Abatement notes:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to extend the ladder so that it extends a full three feet past the roof edge as per ANSI A14.5-2000 (American National Standard for ladders-portable reinforced plastic-safety requirements) Paragraph: 9.3.10 Access to or From Upper Levels. Abatement certification required for this item.
