exposed to fall and struck by hazards when installing Lam-Ply trusses
spanning
72' without adequate bracing.  Nine employees were exposed to
fall/struck-by
hazards when the wooden trusses collapsed.
Abatement notes:  Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement
would follow
the recommendations of the Building Component Safety Information (BSCI) of
the Wood
Truss Council of America (WTCA) and Truss Plate Institute (TPI) for the
installation of
the gable-end trusses with bracing installed from the ground and subsequent
installation/bracing of the Lam-Ply trusses (composite structural lumber)
according to the
National Design Standard for Wood Construction by the American Forest &
Paper
Association (AFPA).
