Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: Machine guard ing on a conveyor was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees fr om hazard(s) created by pinch points: (a)On or about January 30, 2004 employees engaged in slaughter operations in the shackle area were exposed to unguarded ma chine components, in that employees were allowed to access the restrainer/convey or area while the hold down plate was in the up position. This exposed personnel to crushing and pinch hazards. No certification required. Violation Abated.
