Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Far West Side of Building - The Wilton horizontal band saw model #5634001, serial #02042286, was not equipped with a magnetic restarter or similar device, as prescribed by the American National Standards, ANSI B11.10-1990, Section 5.2.3.4, that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. A feasible means of abatement would be to provide a magnetic restarter or similar device as required by ANSI B11.10-1990. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
