Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At loading dock and inside store - two manual pallet movers used for
unloading trailers and to
transport heavy loads were in an unsafe working condition.  The solid
wheels had flat areas and
the brakes were not operating, resulting in difficulties maintaining the
load balanced and stopping
the equipment down a ramp.  An employee suffered an accident when the load
fell
over him
while pulling the manual pallet mover.  The equipment had the following
identification:
Manufacturer All American, Model 46-27-500AARB, Serial Numbers AA18042 and
AA18298,
Capacity 5000 lb..
Hazard:  Contusions, abrasions, and internal injuries, from falling
materials due to unstable
loads and poor handling.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to:  place defective equipment out of service until it has been repaired,
and implement equipment
inspection and maintenance plan.
En el area de carga y en el interior de la tienda - dos equipos manuales
de mover paletas
utilizados para descargar vagones y para transportar carga estaban en
condiciones de trabajo
inseguras.  Las ruedas solidas tenian areas planas y los frenos no estaban
operables, resultando
en dificultad para mantener la carga balanceada y en detener el equipo en
una rampa.  Un
empleado sufrio un accidente cuando la carga se cayo sobre el mientras
estaba halando el equipo
manual de mover paletas.  Este equipo tenia la siguiente identificacion:
Manufacturero All
American, Modelo 46-27-500AARB, Numeros de serie AA18042 y AA18298,
Capacidad de
5000 lb..
Riesgo:  Contusiones, abrasiones, y lesiones internas, por la caida de
materiales debido a cargas
inestables y pobre manejo.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo  factible y aceptable de corregir este
riesgo es:  poner equipo
defectuoso fuera de servicio hasta que sea reparado, e implementar
programa de inspeccion y
mantenimiento de equipo.miento
