Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) 4700 N. Western, Chicago, Il.: Employees were using a wooden job made ladder without the filler blocks inserted between the rungs to support the cleats. The employees were exposed to a fall hazard when they used the ladder. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to include, but not limited to the following: (1) Conform to the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) A14.4-1992, section 4.5.2 No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
