Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck by a high pressure steam stream and/or the uncontrolled hose should it become detached from the employee's grip during use for various pumping or other operations because a fail safe/deadman control was not used: At this establishment, employees used high pressure steam for an aspirator pumping operation and a fail safe valve/deadman control was not used. One feasible means of abatement would include, but not be limited to, the installation of a fail safe valve/deadman control. Location: P3 Area ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
