employment and a place of employment which were freefrom recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or seriousphysical harm to employees, in
that employees were
exposed to the hazard of being struck by a hydraulic vehicle lift:
a)Taylor Brothers of Marion, LLC - Marion, Ohio: On or about May 14, 3004,
the
employer failed to ensure the safety locking device on the hydraulic lift
located in the
rhino coating spray booth was functioning properly.  The safety latch was
coated in rhino
coat overspray and could not be rotated to engage the lifting cylinder.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to ensure vehicle lift operators are instructed in the safe use
and operation of
the lift and to establish periodic inspection procedures in accordance
with ANSI B153.1-
1990, "American National Standard for Automobile Lifts - Safety
Requirements
for the
Construction, Care, and Use".
No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
