Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed by a forklift: On or about July 27, 2004, two employees were observed not wearing their safety seat belts while operating a Toyota lift in the warehouse. Among other methods of abatement, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to prohibit employees from operating this type of equipment without wearing seat belts. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
