Title 40.1-51.1.(a); Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: there were five flammable storage cabinets in one fire safe area containing approximately 118.5 gallons of flammable/combustible lacquers and other paint supplies used for paint spraying operations in the Carpentry Shop. According to NFPA 30 Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code 2000 Edition, paragraph 4.3.2, not more than three storage cabinets shall be located in any one fire area. Note: Feasible and acceptable abatement methods, among others, to correct this hazard are... 1) Groups of no more than three storage cabinets can be separated from each other by a distance of no less than 100 feet. 2) Move two or three of the storage cabinets to another work area.
