Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Machine Shop - The Milwaukee Heavy Duty Hand Saw, Serial #678A94350400, Catalog #6230 when used in a fixed vertical position was not equipped with a magnetic restarter or similar device, as prescribed by the American National Standards, ANSI B11.10-1990, Section 5.2.3.4, that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. A feasible means of abatement would be to provide a magnetic restarter or similar device as required by ANSI B11.10-1990. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
