Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: General Archives Area - employees climbed to the top of an aluminium ladder where they had the hazard of falling. The ladder was a scissor type, of two steps and that rised 34 inches from the floor to the top when opened. The ladder was used to access the higher part of the shelves when lifting and lowering material filed at the top shelves and from being so low they had to stand at the top. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to provide a ladder with appropiate height, with platform and railings, that brings a ample and estable work surface. rea de Archivo General - empleados subian al tope de una escalera de aluminio donde tenian el riesgo de caerse. La escalera era del tipo tijera, de dos escalones y que elevaba 34 pulgadas del suelo hasta el tope cuando estaba abierta. La escalera era usada para alcanzar la parte alta de los anaqueles al subir y bajar material archivado en las tablillas superiores y por ser tan baja habia que subirse al tope. Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es el proveer una escalera de altura apropiada, con plataforma y barandas, que brinde una superficie de trabajo amplia y estable.ie
