Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to:
a)Steelstar Corporation & 6220 E. 14th Ave. in Denver, CO: On or before
January 6, 2005 the employer did not ensure employees were protected from
falls from elevation in that employees were riding the forks of a Lull
182-EUA
rough terrain fork lift in order to set steel beams. Employees were
exposed to
fall hazards greater than 11 feet 6 inches.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
is to perform the following:
ASME B56.6-1992, American Society of Mechanical Engineers - Safety
Standard for Rough
Terrain Forklift Trucks, Section 5.15 "Elevating Personnel".
