Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment
which were free
from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm
to employees in that employees were exposed to caught by hazards:
(a)Chase Lumber Company & 17600 E. Smith Road, Aurora, CO:  On or
before January 24, 2005, the employer did not ensure that employees were
adequately trained to operate Klaisler gantry roller presses in the
manufacturing of wooden roof trusses.  Employees were not provided proper
instruction for safe operation according to the Klaisler Gantry Roller
Manual.
Any employee at a particular time was allowed to operate Klaisler Gantry
Rollers without prior training, including Gantry Roller No. 1 that was
involved
in a fatal accident on January 17, 2005.  In addition, the employer did not
identify and inform all employees, prior to operating Klaisler equipment,
of all
safety concerns in the manual and on the production floor.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct is to:
(a)Provide training to each employee, prior to initial operation of a
Klaisler
Gantry Roller, according to the specifications of the Klaisler Gantry
Roller
Manual.
