Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of working in areas where the lighting was inadequate and did not meet ANSI standards A11.1-1973 for storage rooms or warehouses: a) In an inside storage warehouse, the employer did not provide adequate lighting for employees performing various job tasks such as, but not limited to, operating industrial forklift trucks, mixing chemicals, and transferring chemical products into containers. One feasible method of abatement would be to replace light bulbs in warehouse ceiling light fixtures and/or install an additional lighting system.g
