Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by dropped loads when using hoisting devices with no latch on the lifting hooks. a) Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to ensure the hoisting hook is provided with a latch in accordance with American national Standards Institute (ANSI) b30.16-1973 Overhead Hoists section 16-2.1.2.10 Hooks. Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized hazard of being crushed by the industrial truck in the event of a tip over. a) Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to ensure the operator of the industrial truck utilizes the seat belt provided by the manufacturer.
