Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of being struck by bay doors:
a) Throughout facility:
Doors 38-43 all had broken and or rusted-through welds, exposing employees
to the hazard of
being struck with a door if it falls.
Violation observed on or about 5/7/2004
"Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to replace the doors with standard loading dock doors (the current doors
are primarily for rail
cars).  Another feasible and acceptable means to correct the hazard is to
take the damaged 30
foot doors out of service and use the doors that are not damaged."
