Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that an employee was exposed to the hazard of being struck by a section of concrete that was cut free from a foundation wall: (a) At 707 East Front Avenue, Bismarck, ND, where the foundation wall was not braced to ensure that the concrete section being sawn free was supported and retained in place. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install bracing to the material being sawn free, to comply with ANSI A10.6- 1969, Safety Requirements for Demolition, paragraph 9.2. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion
