Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls from scissors lifts: a) On or about 5/28/04, on jobsite at the XLI Office Building Construction site, 55 Vanguard Parkway, Rochester, NY: Employees were exposed to falls of approx. eighteen (18) feet to the ground below while standing on the midrails of scissors lifts to install sprinkler pipes. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS FOR THE EMPLOYER TO COMPLY WITH SECTION 7.11.1 OF ANSI A92.6-1990 WHICH REQUIRES THAT EMPLOYEES MAINTAIN A FIRM FOOTING ON THE PLATFORM FLOOR WHILE WORKING THEREON. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIREDATION
