a) Employees were allowed to use compressed gas cylinders for unapproved
purposes. Used
compressed gas cylinders were used as a mechanism to pressurize acid for
cleaning purposes.
One feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to follow the
requirements of the
Compressed Gas Association, Inc. Pamphlet, P-1 3.1.16, which states,
"Never use cylinders as
rollers, supports, or for any purpose other than to contain the content as
received."
