General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being burned by contact with pressurized acid. a) Employees were allowed to use compressed gas cylinders for unapproved purposes. Used compressed gas cylinders were used as a mechanism to pressurize acid for cleaning purposes. One feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to follow the requirements of the Compressed Gas Association, Inc. Pamphlet, P-1 3.1.16, which states, "Never use cylinders as rollers, supports, or for any purpose other than to contain the content as received."
