Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards from falling materials and or debris, while operating a mobile crane, whose anti-two blocking device was not operational, on or about 03/15/05. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD OF CORRECTING THIS HAZARD IS: a) Instruct each employee to inspect the crane daily, to ensure all of the crane's safety devices are operational. b) ANSI B30.5-1994, paragraph 5-1.9.9, states that the anti two block device shall be installed and be operational. c) Obtain a copy of ANSI B30.5-1994 and ensure you update your safety program accordingly.
