Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to struck by hazards caused by improper bracing of wood
trusses:
On or about 08/12/05 at 975 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, GA: Employees were
exposed to
struck by hazards, while working in a structure, where trusses were
improperly braced.
" AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS":
1. Instruct each employee on proper bracing of wood trusses, as required
by the Building
Component Safety Information BCSI 1-03, Guide to Good Practices for
Handling, Installing, and
Bracing of Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses, as published by the
National Truss Institute.
(Figure B1-18).
2. Revise your company safety program by adding specific guidance on
proper bracing of
trusses.
3. Train supervisors and workers on the hazards of installing trusses
during periods of windy
weather.  A specific Warning to this effect is found in BCSI 1-03.
ABATEMENT VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED PER 29 CFR 1903.19D
