Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to improper operation of a skid steer.
On or about 09/14/05 at, 101 Manor Place, Baldwin, GA:
a) Employee was exposed to a fall hazard. Employee was operating a New
Holland LS180.
Employee maneuvered skid steer to wall location and climbed on lift arm to
the forks with a
pallet of stone block approximately 7' above the ground.
"AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS":
1) Instruct each employee during training and safety meetings the proper
operations and
procedures for operating a skid steer, as required by OPERATOR'S MANUAL,
page O-7 Safety
Precautionary Statements item 33.
2) Conduct periodic monitoring inspections of skid steer operations and
correct deficiencies
immediately.
