Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to PVC pipe used to transport compressed air.
"Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to:"
1. Only use material with shatter resistance properties. (Reference
Plastic Pipe Institute
document).
2. Follow manufacturer recommendation on application.
On or about September 20, 2005 at the worksite located at 2344 John Glenn
Drive in Chamblee,
Ga.:
(a)  Employees performing various tasks related to fabricating heating and
air
conditioning ducts were exposed to being struck by shrapnel during a PVC
pipe
explosion.ng
