Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck-by shrapnel in the event of a rupture from PVC pipe used to transport compressed air. On or about October 11, 2005 at the worksite located at 5340-F McEver Road in Flowery Branch, Georgia: PVC was used overhead to transport compressed air from the compressor to machinery and equipment in the facility. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to:" Only use material with shatter resistance properties. (Reference Plastic Pipe Institute document). Note: Follow manufactures instuctions for installation.
