Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of truss collapse: On or about May 21, 2004, employees engaged in setting 76'-4" wood scissor trusses on a new building under construction were exposed to the hazard of falls and being struck by falling trusses in the event of truss collapse in that adequate temporary bracing was not employed to stabilize the trusses during erection. Among others, feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard would be to follow temporary bracing recommendations of the manufacturer, temporary bracing recommendations of a registered professional engineer, or the temporary bracing recommendations outlined in the Truss Plate Institute HIB-91 Summary Sheet Commentary and Recommendations for Handling, Installing & Bracing Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses.d
