Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)On or about June 10, 2004, employees were exposed to hazards associated with backhoe buckets becoming detached from the Caterpillar Quick Coupler. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard would be to: Install a fail safe mechanical locking device or backup feature on all Caterpillar Quick Couplers, and/or utilize, maintain, inspect and test the quick coupler in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. 0 0 y 0 L
