Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At the following areas, employees were exposed to airbone microorganisms over the acceptable level where they worked in an enviroment which concentration of microorganisms in the air was at a level over the acceptable exposure indicator level of 1,000 colony forming units per cubic meter of air (CFU/m3). 1.Kindergarten Classroom - the sampled exposure level was 1,105.1 CFU/m3 of the combined fungi and bacteria levels in the air, 105.1 CFU/m3 over the acceptable exposure indicator. The sample was taken on 02-14-2005. 2.Storage room beside second grade classroom - the sampled exposure level was 1,468.1 CFU/m3 of the combined fungi and bacteria levels in the air, 468.1 CFU/m3 over the acceptable exposure indicator. The sample was taken on 02-14- 2005. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct is: 1.Disinfection of the areas. Preventive measures shall be taken not to expose employees to the microorganisms and/or to the chemicals substances to be used to clean the area. 2.Removal of any contaminated materials and equipment. Reuse of these is not recomended unless they can be completely disinfected. 3.Spray the areas frecuently with disinfectant spray and provide scheduled cleaning as required to maintain low levels of microorganisms.
