estaban expuestos

At storage area - employees accessed mezzanine area at 8'- 11" high using
a 8 feet portable
fiberglass/aluminum Type IA ladder, they had to stand on ladder top and
top step to reach
platform.  The ladder's manufacturer label marking indicated highest
standing level at 5'- 9".
Ladders shall be used only for the purpose for which they were designed.
An
employee suffered
a fall while descending using this ladder.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to provide stairs in compliance.
Hazard:  Falls.
En el area de almacenaje - empleados accedian a entresuelo a 8'- 11" de
altura usando una
escalera portatil de "fiberglass"/aluminio Tipo IA, tenian que pararse en
el tope de la escalera
y en el escalon tope para alcanzar la plataforma.  La etiqueta del
manufacturero de la escalera
indicaba que el nivel mas alto para pararse era a 5'- 9".  Las escaleras
deben usarse solamente
para el proposito para el cual fueran disenados.  Un empleado sufrio una
caida mientras bajaba
utilizando esta escalera.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es de proveer una
escalera que este en cumplimiento.
