Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of the rotating blade: a) East Part of Building - The Do All vertical band saw serial #5014807 was not equipped with a magnetic restarter or similar device, as prescribed by the American National Standards, ANSI B11.10-2003, Section 6.11, that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. A feasible means of abatement would be to provide a magnetic restarter or similar device as required by ANSI B11.10-2003. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
