North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina:  The employer did not furnish to
each of his employees  conditions of employment and a place of
employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that
employees were exposed to live electrical parts:
a)  Live exposed electric wires in a ceiling fan had a light
fixture that was not properly attached and secured spliced into
it.The light fixture was of the type that an extension cord was
plugged into it to provide power to a box fan sitting on the
floor..
b)  Hot water heater located in the kitchen easily accesable
by the occupants had improperly spliced wiring that was energized
and exposed.
Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abating these
violations is to provide housing for migrant workers which meets
the National Electric Code and local building code requirements for
electrical wiring.
