Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to severe burn injuries from a potential dust explosion due to the propagation of a fire and explosion in the dust collectors that were located inside the building structure. a.) Extrusion Area- The Tenkay Dust Collector (Farr Company) has explosion relief venting panels that are vented to the inside of the building, on or about 7-20-05. b.) Extrusion Area- The Aget Dust Collector, immediately adjacent to the Tenkay Dust Collector, has no modification for explosion relief and is also not vented to the outside of the building, on or about 7-20-05. ABATEMENT NOTE: AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND USEFUL METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO COMPLY WITH THE PROVISIONS OF NFPA 654-2000 AND RELOCATE THE DUST COLLECTION SYSTEMS OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 3.13.1.1 OF THE STANDARD. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
