Section 6a of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6a de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At Sears Roebuck of Puerto Rico, Inc. and Sears Brand Central Plaza Las Americas, in the receiving area the employees were unloading merchandise from trucks, loading merchandise on crates, moving the loaded crates to different areas, working with the compacting machine, among other jobs. The mechanical jacks used to move the loaded crates were old and severely damaged. Hazard: Strain on back muscles. Among other correction methods, a feasible and acceptable one would be to provide new mechanical jacks or other forms of moving the crates. En Sears Roebuck de Puerto Rico, Inc.y Sears Brand Central Plaza Las Americas, en el area de recibo, los empleados descargaban mercancia de camiones, cargaban mercancia en carritos, movian los carritos cargados a distintas areas, trabajaban con la maquina compactadora, entre otros trabajos. Los gatos utilizados para mover los carritos cargados estaban viejos y severamente averiados. Riesgo: Forzar los musculos de la espalda. Entre otros metodos de correccion uno factible y aceptable para corregir seria proveer gatos nuevos u otro metodo para el manejo de cargas.
