Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the Trasbordo station of San Juan. The employee was cleaning with a
rake the
garabage close to the retainning wall when detachment the material of the
wall.
Hazard: Detaching of retainning wall fall over the employee.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is,  replace the retainning wall.
En la estacion de Trasbordo de San Juan. El empleado estaba limpiando con
un rastrillo
la basura cerca del muro de contension donde estaba desprendiendose el
material de la
pared.
Riesgo: Desprendimiento del muro caiga sobre un empleado.
En otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo
es, reparar
el muro de contension.ento

a:
At the tunnel area in the Trasbordo San Juan.  The employee was cleaning
the drainage
of the way with a rake and other employee was driving a loader trade mark
Cat 950G
serial number 3GW00963 to pick up garbage. The values of the illumination
in the units
foot candle were between 20.1 and 22.2. For this type of task the value
recommended
was 30 foot candle by the American National Standard ANSI/IES RP-1991. The
works
were performed from early in the morning when there was not light in the
tunnel and the
heavy equipment used did not have lights.
Hazard: Fall and overturn of the equipmnet.
Among other methods, one feasible and aceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is, repair the lights in the tunnel.
En el area del Tunel en Trasbordo San Juan. El empleado  estaba limpiando
los salideros
del camino y otro empleado conducia un loader'  marca Cat 950G, numero de
Serie
3GW00963 para  recoger la basura. Los valores obtenidos de iluminacion en
las unidades
de foot candle' estaban entre 20.1 y 22.2. Para este tipo de trabajo los
valores
recomendados era de 30 foot candle' por American National Standard
ANSI/IES AP-
1991. Los trabajos eran realizados desde la madrugada cuando no habia luz
en el tunel
y el equipo pesado utilizado no tenia luces.
Riesgo: Caida y volcamiento del equipo.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es, reparar
las luces del tunel.
