Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the Library for the Blind and Phisically Impaired of PR pertaining to
the Department
of Education, the walls were cracked and filled with water spots, the
paint and cement
were falling off due to humidity, the floor and carpet had water spots due
to water and
humidity caused by water filtrations that wetted walls and floors every
time it rained.
The employees worked in their desks with their computers,looked for books
on
tape,
tended to clients in person or by phone, repaired tape players, among
other works.
Hazard: Slips and falls.
Among other correction methods a feasible and acceptable one for the
correction of this
hazard would be to seal the cracks in the walls near the windows and
ceiling where water
comes in when it rains.
En la Bilioteca para Ciegos y Fisicamente Impedidos de PR del Departamento
de
Educacion, las paredes estaban agrietadas y llenas de manchas de agua, la
pintura y el
cemento se caian por la humedad, la alfombra y el piso tenian manchas de
agua y
humedad provocada por las filtraciones que mojaban paredes y pisos cada
vez que llovia.
Los empleados trabajaban en sus escritorios, con sus computadoras,
buscando libros
grabados, atendiendo al publico en persona y por telefono, reparando
grabadoras,
entre
otros trabajos.
Riesgo: Resbalones y caidas.
Entre otros metodos de correccion uno factible y aceptable para la
correccion de este
riesgo podria ser reparar las grietas en el area de las ventanas y el
techo por donde se
cuela el agua cuando llueve.
