b.Inadequate lighting: The excessive overhead lighting in the cubicle
reflects glare
on the screen, causing stress and other visual problems.
c.Extension and bending: The keyboard, the telephone, and the mouse were
located
at a considerable distance from the operator forcing him to extent the
hands and
bend forward in order to reach such. Bend the body and the repetitive
movement
of the arms causes uncomforted, fatigue, low back pain, and pain in
shoulders
and neck. The top of the screen was above eye level of the employee what
cause
neck extension when looking at the screen. Due to awkward posture when
typing,
there is an increased biomechanical load imposed on neck and shoulder
region of
the employee.
d.Contact stress: As much the keyboard as the mouse were located over the
desk
in front of the employee, exposing the palm of the hands and the wrists to
the
sharp edge of the desk, without the adequate support. The prolonged
exposure to
contact stress causes Accumulative Trauma Disorders (TADs) specifically
Carpal

General correction methods applicable the worksite:
11/30/06To provide ergonomics training to the Call Center employees
teaching
them basic ergonomics principle, ergonomics hazard recognition, problem
solving, proper work methods and practices, and the recognition of early
signs and symptoms of Musculo-Skeketal Disorders (MSDs). It should use
the services of an ergonomic consultant appropiatly trainned to implement
the train to employees.
To assign a person to carry-out an ergonomics program in the Call Center
aimed at the reduction of risk and prevention of MSDs in the workplace.
12/29/06To develop a mechanism for early reporting the signs and symptoms
of
MSDs and make the Call Center employees aware about the mechanism
and the importance of recognition and early reporting of MSD signs and
symptoms.
01/31/07To conduct regular VDT workstation evaluations aimed at the
identification of potential exposure of Call Center employees to
ergonomics risk factors and developing feasible control strategies to
address the identified problems. The employee should present evidence of
the first performed evaluation and an agenda for the future evaluations.
The correction of these conditions is required in 3 stages. The employee

Centro de llamadas, empleados realizaron trabajos interactivos de
computadora y de
contestar llamadas telefonicas. Estos trabajos estaban asociados con
posturas estaticas

antebrazos

call centers
operators were at increased risk of developing health problems like as the
