h.Inadequate chair size: Employees with a physical structure too big or

observed

Ergonomics risks observed in the # 4 work station.
a.Asymmetric working posture: The employee is forced to adopt an asymmetric
working posture with respect to the desk when performing the job-specific
tasks.
Awkward posture is adopted and maintained for long periods of time. When he
use the mouse, the right forearm and elbow were exposed to the hard edge
of the
desk.
b.Inadequate lighting: The excessive overhead lighting in the cubicle
reflects glare
on the screen, causing stress and other visual problems.
c.Extension and bending: The keyboard, the telephone, and the mouse were
located
at a considerable distance from the operator forcing him to extent the
hands and
bend forward in order to reach such. Bend the body and the repetitive
movement
of the arms causes uncomforted, fatigue, low back pain, and pain in
shoulders
and neck. The top of the screen was above eye level of the employee what
cause
neck extension when looking at the screen. Due to awkward posture when
typing,
there is an increased biomechanical load imposed on neck and shoulder
region of
the employee.
d.Contact stress: As much the keyboard as the mouse were located over the
desk

The correction of these conditions is required in 3 stages. The employee
should present
evidence to our office of as it is fulfilled each one of the indicated
abatement methods,
in each one of the risks of the four cases described in the report.The
expiration date for
these abatement methods is (01/31/07).
General correction methods applicable the worksite:
11/30/06To provide ergonomics training to the Call Center employees
teaching
them basic ergonomics principle, ergonomics hazard recognition, problem
solving, proper work methods and practices, and the recognition of early
signs and symptoms of Musculo-Skeketal Disorders (MSDs). It should use
the services of an ergonomic consultant appropiatly trainned to implement
the train to employees.
To assign a person to carry-out an ergonomics program in the Call Center
aimed at the reduction of risk and prevention of MSDs in the workplace.
12/29/06To develop a mechanism for early reporting the signs and symptoms
of
MSDs and make the Call Center employees aware about the mechanism
and the importance of recognition and early reporting of MSD signs and
symptoms.
01/31/07To conduct regular VDT workstation evaluations aimed at the
identification of potential exposure of Call Center employees to
ergonomics risk factors and developing feasible control strategies to
address the identified problems. The employee should present evidence of
the first performed evaluation and an agenda for the future evaluations.
The correction of these conditions is required in 3 stages. The employee
should present
evidence to our office of as it is fulfilled each one of the general
abatement methods,
where according to the expiration dates previously indicated, already must
be
implemented the requirements indicated in each one.En Transcore Atlantic
Inc., area de Centro de llamadas, empleados realizaron trabajos
interactivos de computadora y de contestar llamadas telefonicas. Estos
trabajos  estaban
asociados con posturas estaticas mantenidas por largos periodos de tiempo,
y
movimientos altamente repetitivos al usar el teclado y el raton, que
envuelven
movimientos de teclear y arrastrar. Los operadores de los centros de
llamadas estaban
altamente expuestos al desarrollo de problemas de salud como lo son los
Desordenes
de
Trauma Acumulativo de las Extremidades Superiores (DTAES) y las
Enfermedades
Musculo-esqueletales (EME) de la espalda y espalda baja.
Se observo empleados con  posturas incomodas y estaticas, movimientos
repetitivos,
presion por contacto, y el uso de fuerza excesiva mientras realizaban
trabajos en el
Terminal de Exhibicion de Video (TEV). Tambien se observo iluminacion
excesiva sobre
los cubiculos.
Las facilidades, equipo y estacion de trabajo usados por los empleados
fueron provistas
por la compania "Transcore Atlantic Inc." El personal gerencial que
supervisa los
empleados de "Staff Management" pertenecen a "Transcore Atlantic Inc."
Riesgos ergonomicos observados en la estacion de trabajo #1.
a.Extension: La parte de arriba del monitor estaba sobre el nivel de los
ojos del
empleado, lo que produce extension del cuello cuando observa la pantalla.
b.Iluminacion inadecuada: La iluminacion excesiva sobre los cubiculos se
reflejaba
en la pantalla, causando fatiga y otros problemas visuales.
c.Doblar el tronco hacia el frente y movimientos repetitivos del brazo: El
telefono
estaba ubicado fuera del alcance del empleado, por lo que se tenia que
doblar
hacia el frente y extender el brazo en repetidas ocasiones, lo que causa
a:
fatiga,
incomodidad y dolor en la espalda baja, hombros y areas del cuello.
d.Presion de contacto: Dado al tamano y ajuste de la silla, se observo que
el
empleado estuvo experimentando presion en los codos y antebrazos, y
presion en
la parte de atras de las rodillas. El contacto prolongado causa problemas
de
circulacion. Los descanza-brazos estaban muy altos y la profundidad del
asiento

entre el teclado al frente y el monitor a su derecha.

o muy pequena en sillas donde su ajuste no cumplia con las necesidades de
su
ocupante.
e.Iluminacion inadecuada: La iluminacion excesiva sobre los cubiculos
reflejaba en
la pantalla, causando fatiga y otros problemas visuales.
Entre otros medios de correccion, varios metodos factibles y aceptables
para la
correccion  de estos riesgos son los siguientes:

el empleado tenga una postura simetrica al sentarse frente al escritorio.
b.El empleado se beneficiaria utilizando una tablilla ajustable para el
teclado, que
tenga soporte para las munecas.
c.El empleado se beneficiaria utilizando una tablilla ajustable para el
teclado, que
tenga soporte para las munecas, para que sus manos esten mas cerca de su
cuerpo.
d.El empleado se beneficiaria utilizando una silla adecuada a su tamano,
para
facilitar la estabilidad y comodidad de su postura al estar sentado.
e.El empleado se beneficiaria utilizando un filtro contra el resplandor
colocado en
el monitor.

b.Falta de  equipo de trabajo auxiliar: El empleado sostenia los
documentos de
referencia con la mano izquierda y operaba el teclado para entrar datos
relevantes
en la computadora con la mano derecha.
c.Doblar y girar: El empleado doblaba y giraba su cuello y cabeza cuando
cambiaba su vista entre los documentos de referencia en su mano izquierda
y el
monitor a su derecha.
d.Extension: El teclado, el telefono y el raton  estaban ubicados sobre el
escritorio
a una distancia considerada del operador, obligandolo a extender sus manos
para
alcanzar los mismos. La parte de arriba del monitor estaba sobre el nivel
de los
ojos del empleado, lo que produce extension del cuello cuando observa la
pantalla. Debido a esta posicion tan incomoda cuando teclea, hay un
aumento en
la sobrecarga biomecanica en las areas del cuello y hombros del empleado.
e.Brazos sin soporte: Los brazos del empleado carecian de soporte debido a
que
el
tamano de la silla no se ajusta a la estructura fisica del empleado.
Tampoco habia
una tablilla ajustable con soporte a las munecas, para colocar el teclado
y el
raton. Debido a esta posicion tan incomoda cuando teclea, hay un aumento
en la
sobrecarga biomecanica en las areas del cuello y hombros del empleado. La
exposicion continua a una postura incomoda  de las extremidades superiores
causa
o contribuye a aumentar el riesgo  a Desordenes de Trauma Acumulativo de
las
Extremidades Superiores (DTA-ES).
f.Presion de contacto: Tanto el teclado como el raton estaban ubicados
sobre el
escritorio al frente del empleado, exponiendo las palmas de las manos y
munecas
al borde filoso del  escritorio, sin un soporte adecuado. La exposicion
prolongada
a presion de contacto puede causar  Desordenes de Trauma Acumulativo (DTA)
especificamente el Sindrome del Tunel Carpiano (STC).
g.Iluminacion inadecuada: La iluminacion excesiva sobre los cubiculos se
reflejaba

a.El empleado se beneficiaria colocando el monitor directamente al frente
de el,
sobre el escritorio. El monitor debe estar a la distancia de un brazo del
operador.
Esto ayudara para que el empleado tenga una postura simetrica al sentarse
frente
al escritorio.
b.El empleado se beneficiaria usando un sostenedor de copias que se le
pueda
montar  a cualquier lado del monitor. El accesorio permite que los
documentos
se coloquen apropiadamente cerca de la pantalla del monitor, a la misma
altura
y distancia del monitor con relacion al empleado.
c.El empleado se beneficiaria colocando el monitor directamente al frente
de el
sobre el escritorio. El monitor debe estar a la distancia de un brazo del
operador.
Esto ayudara para que el empleado tenga una postura simetrica al sentarse
frente
al escritorio.
d.El empleado se beneficiaria colocando el telefono a un alcance facil y
comodo.
Tambien se beneficiaria utilizando una tablilla ajustable para el teclado
y el raton,
que tenga soporte para las munecas, para que sus manos esten mas cerca de
su
cuerpo. Tambien se beneficiaria colocando el monitor directamente al

La correccion de estas condiciones se requerira en 3 etapas. El patrono
debera
presentar evidencia a nuestra oficina, de como se cumple con cada uno de
los
metodos de correccion indicados en cada uno de los riesgos de los cuatro
casos
descritos  en el informe. La fecha de vencimiento para estos metodos de
correccion es el 01/31/07.
Metodos de correccion generales aplicables al sitio de trabajo:
11/30/06Proveer adiestramiento en ergonomia a los empleados del Centro de
Llamadas, ensenandoles principios ergonomicos basicos, reconocimiento
de riesgos ergonomicos, solucion de problemas, practicas y metodos de
trabajo adecuados, y el reconocimiento de signos y sintomas tempranos de
las Enfermedades Musculo-Esqueletales (EMEs). Se debe utilizar los
servicios de un profesional debidamente entrenado en ergonomia para
implementar el adiestramiento a empleados.
Asignar una persona para llevar a cabo un programa de ergonomia en el
Centro de Llamadas dirigido a la reduccion de riesgos y la prevencion de
las Enfermedades Musculo-Esqueletales (EMEs), en el sitio de trabajo.
12/29/06Desarrollar un mecanismo para el reporte temprano de signos y
sintomas
de MSDs y alertar a los empleados del Centro de Llamadas acerca del
mecanismo y la importancia del reconocimiento y reporte temprano de los
signos y sintomas de las Enfermedades Musculo-Esqueletales (EMEs).
01/31/06  Conducir evaluaciones regulares de las estaciones de trabajo con
Terminal
de Exhibicion de Video (TEV), dirigidas a la identificacion de exposicion
potencial de los empleados a los factores de riesgo ergonomicos,
desarrollando controles y estrategias factibles para ayudar en los
problemas identificados. Debera presentar evidencia de la primera
evaluacion realizada y un plan de accion o agenda para las futuras
evaluaciones.
La correccion de estas condiciones se requerira en 3 etapas.
Debera presentar evidencia a nuestra oficina de como se cumple
con cada uno de los metodos de correccion generales, donde segun
las fechas de vencimiento previamente indicadas, ya deben estar
implementados los requisitos indicados en cada uno de ellos.dos
c.Bending of the trunk and repetitive arm movements: The telephone is

out of the reach of employee reason why he had to bend forward and extends
thearm in repetitive occasions, what causes fatigue, discomfort and pain

to the low back, shoulder and neck areas.
d.Contact stress: Due the chair fit and size, it was observed that the
employee was
experimenting  contact stress in the elbows and forearms, and pressure in
the
back of the knees. The prolonged contact causes circulation problems. The
arm
rests were too hight and the deep of the seat was not fitted the size of
the
employee.
Among other methods of correction, various methods feasible and acceptable
of these
risks are the followings:
a.The employee may benefit from positioning of the monitor directly on top
of
the
desk. The monitor should be position at about arm length from the
operator.
b.The employee may benefit from an anti-glare filter mounted on the
monitor.
c.The employee may benefit from positioning the telephone within the range
of easy
and comfortable reach.
d.The employee may benefit from lowering armrests of the chair and reducing
exposure of the elbow and forearms to unpadded surface of the armrests.
Ergonomics risks observed in the #2 work station.
a.Bending and twisting: The employee bending and twisting the neck when
change
the eyes between the keyboard in the front and the screen at  the right.
b.Contact  stress: Both input devices the keyboard and the mouse are
positioned on
top of the desk directly in front of the VDT operator,  the forearms of
the
VDT
operator are exposed to sharp, hard edge of the desk. The prolonged
exposure to
contact stress causes Accumulative Trauma Disorders (TADs) specifically
Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome (CTS).
c.Extension: The keyboard was located at a considerable distance from the
operator
forcing him to extent his arms to reach it. Due to awkward posture when
typing,
there is an increased biomechanical load imposed on neck and shoulder
region of
the employee.
d.Inadequate chair size: Employees with a physical structure too big or
too little
using chairs  that did not fit the necessity of the occupants.
e.Inadequate lighting: The excessive overhead lighting in the cubicle
reflects glare
on the screen, causing stress and other visual problems.
Among other methods of correction, various methods feasible and acceptable
of
these
risks are the followings:
a.The employee may benefit from positioning the monitor directly in front
of him.
The monitor should be position at about arm length from the operator. This
help
the employee to have a symmetric posture when seat in front of the desk.
b.The employee may benefit from utilizing an adjustable keyboard tray
equipped
with a built-in wrist support.
c.The employee may benefit from utilizing an adjustable keyboard tray
equipped
with a built-in wrist support and have the hands near the body.
d.The employee may benefit from using an adequate size chair to facilitate
stable,
comfortable sitting posture.
e.The employee may benefit from an anti-glare filter mounted on the
monitor.
Ergonomics risks observed in the #3 work station.
a.Extension and twist:  The top of the screen was above eye level of the
employee
what causes neck extension when looking at the screen.  The employee
bending
and twisting the neck and head when change the eyes between the keyboard
in the
front and the screen at the right.  Awkward posture is adopted and
maintained for
long periods of time. Cumulative exposure to awkward posture of the neck
causes
or contribute to an increased risk of Upper Extremity Cumulative Trauma
Disorder (UECTDs).
b.Lack of auxiliary work equipment: The left hand is used to hold the
document
whereas the right hand is used to type relevant information or data onto
the
computer.
c.Bending and twisting: The  employee bending and twisting the neck and
head
when change the sight between the reference documents in the left hand and
the
screen in the right.
d.Extension: The keyboard, the telephone, and the mouse were located over
the
desk at a considerable distance of the operator forcing him to extent the
hands to
reach such. The top of the screen was above eye level of the employee which
causes neck extension when looking at the screen. Due to awkward posture
when
typing, there is an increased biomechanical load imposed on neck and
shoulder
region of the employee.
e.Arms without support: The arms of the employee were without support due
the
size of the chair did not fit the physical structure of the employee.
Either have
had an adjustable keyboard tray equipped with a built-in wrist support, to
put themouse and the keyboard.  Due to awkward posture when typing, there
