Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras Campus. The employees were
working on
a wood made posts located at the posterior area of the campus, which were
in the
parking area and at the street that gave access to the security office.
The posts does not
protect the employees from the elements of the climate and do not protect
the
employees
from the cars that pass trought the area. Some times the cars have hit
these posts. The
employees were guarding the area of the parking and the entrance to the
security office.
Hazard: Contact with cars in movement and exposition to rain and sun.
Among other correction methods, a feasible and aceptable to correct this
hazard it, to
construct a new security guard post and relocate them out of the car
movement area.
En la Universidad de Puerto Rico Recinto de Rio Piedras. Los empleados
estaban
trabajando en unas casetas de madera localizadas en la parte posterior del
recinto, las
cuales estaban en el area del estacionamiento en la calle que daba acceso
a la oficina de
seguridad. Las casetas no protegian a los empleados de los elementos del
clima y de los
carros que transitaban por el area. Algunas veces los carros habian
golpeado estas
casetas. Los empleados estaban cuidando el area del estacionamiento y la
entrada a la
oficina de seguridad.
Riesgo: Contacto con carros en movimiento y exposicion a lluvia y sol.
Entre otros metodos de correccion, un metodo factible y aceptable para
corregir este
riesgo es, construir unas nuevas casetas de seguridad y colocarlas fuera
del area de
transito de los vehiculos.
