Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from a defective ladder: (a) A fiberglass ladder used in the G-49 Auto Body Shop area had a damaged aluminum support on the back section. Among other methods, one feasible method of abatement is to perform inspection and maintenance of ladders, and remove ladders from service when damaged as described in ANSI A14.5, Portable reinforced ladders, section 9.4.ion
